The column cap detail trim was added by the homeowners after moving in. Because each homeowner does things a little differently (within our guidelines, of course) you get the great variety within a narrow range that's a characteristic of great places. Matter of fact, I'd go so far as to call this the Gateway to Greatness, because I've never seen a great place that didn't have this characteristic. Places that insist on all details being exactly right miss the Gateway to Greatness entirely. What this amounts to is that in order for the neighborhood to be great, each person needs to "get your house slightly wrong."
